Over the past two weeks, we’ve hosted two amazing mornings of sport at Si De Park with our Sports Days for first for Key Stage 2 and then for Key Stage 1.
After several years of COVID-19 restrictions, it was fantastic to have parents be able to watch their children compete and cheer them on from the sidelines. This created a fantastic atmosphere at the park on both days and gave the children a chance to show their best athletic efforts in front of their families.
The events were picked from the different PE units students have studied so far this year and students had trained for them specifically for several weeks, refining their technique in order to score maximum points. Students rotated from event to event, racing against the clock to score the most before the time ran out. With events testing speed, teamwork, throwing and coordination there was something for everyone.
Thanks to our introduction of house competitions this year, students are now familiar with wearing their house colours and working with their classmates to score points for their house – we certainly saw some great team spirit and Be Collaborative skills on show at both events!
We are very proud of the dedication and hard work shown by all of our students and I hope that they will have some great memories of the day.
Both celebrations of sport could not have gone ahead without a lot of hard work behind the scenes, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank Angela Xu and Ruby Feng for helping with the planning, Emma Li for organising our bus transport and our maintenance man Guo Xianbo for the vital task of setting up all our equipment.
