Chinese Update

Chinese Update | BSB Sanlitun - Chinese Update

Over the past few weeks, our Chinese classes have been both lively and productive, with each year group exploring age-appropriate topics through interactive methods. From singing to role-play and creative art, students have been actively building their language skills while having fun.

Nursery childrenhave been learning about different occupations, such as doctors, police officers, firefighters, chefs, and hairdressers. The children particularly enjoyed the nursery rhyme 小小理发师“The Little Hairdresser,” which not only taught them the relevant vocabulary but also allowed them to act out the role of a hairdresser. They had great fun with this rhyme.

Year 1 Native Group students learntthe text 比尾巴 “Comparing Tails,” through which they learned a variety of antonyms. The class recited the passage rhythmically to improve their pronunciation and fluency, and they also played an exciting word‑hunting game to reinforce character recognition. These activities made learning both effective and engaging.

Year 2 Native Group students worked on the text棉花姑娘 “Cotton Lady,” where students discovered that different pests have different natural enemies - most notably, that ladybugs eat aphids. To deepen their understanding, they took on different roles and read the text aloud, which made the lesson highly interactive and memorable.

Year 3 Native Group students reviewed vocabulary using scratch‑off art paper. As students scratched the black coating to reveal colours underneath, they wrote or drew Chinese characters, turning a routine review into a hands‑on, visually appealing experience. This creative approach helped solidify their memory of the words while keeping them fully engaged.
