From Teamwork to Trophies: Building Champions in Sport and Character

Mr Major and I are delighted to welcome all our students back for another exciting year of PE. We are looking forward to helping every child develop their physical skills, confidence and enjoyment of sport throughout the year. Our aim is to create a positive and inclusive environment in which all students feel encouraged to participate, challenge themselves and celebrate their progress.

Over the summer, we updated our Key Stage 2 PE curriculum to ensure that it aligns more closely with JISAC (Junior International Schools Athletic Conference). This will give our students the best possible opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required for the sports in which they will participate throughout the year. Each unit has been carefully planned to provide clear progression, allowing students to build upon their previous learning as they move through the school.

Alongside developing sport-specific skills, our lessons will continue to promote important qualities such as teamwork, communication, resilience, leadership and fair play. We want students to understand not only how to perform different skills, but also how to apply them effectively in game situations and work positively with others. Most importantly, we hope to encourage a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity and help every student recognise the benefits of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.

We are also incredibly excited about the opening of our new swimming pool later this term. This will be a fantastic addition to our PE programme and will provide students with opportunities to develop their confidence, swimming technique and water-safety awareness in a purpose-built environment. We look forward to sharing further information about our swimming programme with families as we get closer to its launch.

It promises to be a very exciting year for PE, and Mr Major and I cannot wait to get started. We look forward to seeing our students enjoying their lessons, representing the school with pride and making excellent progress throughout the year.
