Our School Day

The school day is structured to encourage routine and familiarity, whilst having a breadth of experiences within it to develop the ‘whole’ child in all areas of life. Depending on your child’s age the structure of the day will be tailored to meet their needs more readily.

The school day begins at 8:30, with children arriving from 8:15 onwards. Students in Early Years or Pre-school and Key Stage 1 have two breaks per day, each twenty minutes long. Key Stage 2 children have one break each day of twenty minutes.

Our lunchtimes are staggered but every child has one hour to give plenty of opportunity to enjoy their lunch and play with their friends. Students in the Primary school also have after school activities twice a week which are compulsory for all.

The Early Years and the Primary School day finishes at 15:30, except for after school activity days when the Primary School finishes at 16:30.

Early Years/Pre-school (Pre-nursery and Nursery)

If your child is between the ages of one and four they will be based in our Li Building specially tailored to be more accessible for our youngest students. Our youngest children have the option of half-day or full-day school, and a sleep time is incorporated into the day for our very youngest. The days are structured to be highly exploratory and play-based. Alongside this, key life skills and routines are emphasised and developed.

Early Years/Pre-school (Reception)

If your child is four to five years old they will be based in our Reception classes in our Li Building. This year is very much a bridging year between Early Years and Primary. The students still engage in exploratory and play-based learning in a fun and engaging environment, but alongside this they begin to develop a more structured approach to reading, writing and numeracy.

Primary School (Key Stage 1)

If your child is between five and seven years old they will be in our Year 1 or Year 2 classes based in our San Building. They will be inspired by a creative curriculum that links a topic or theme across all the subjects to absorb and engage students in their learning.

Primary School (Key Stage 2)

If your child is between seven and eleven years old they will be based in our Year 3, 4, 5 or 6 classes based in our San Building. They will be inspired by a creative curriculum that links a topic or theme across all the subjects to absorb and engage students in their learning. Our older students are expected to take on more roles and responsibilities in school, including House Captains, Global Campus leaders, sports team captains and librarians to name a few.

As well as our typical timetabled days there are many more opportunities in school to grow. We have special events and days, such as Book Week, International Week, Art day and more. There are on-going projects and roles throughout the school, like Global Campus and School Council. Our dedication to music and sport is second to none and we provide numerous opportunities in these areas of the curriculum.

We believe that it is our responsibility to inspire our students to develop and grow in all areas of school life.
