Frederick Williamson

Head of Mathematics
Frederick-Williamson

Frederick (Fred) is an outstanding educator and is now in his tenth year with BSG. With a degree in Mathematics and Music, and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Secondary Mathematics (2014), he has grown to become a fantastic teacher of secondary mathematics, showing a true passion for the subject, and an unyielding desire to transfer that passion to his students.

Teaching from Year 7 all the way to Further Mathematics A-Level, Fred’s diversity of teaching experience is extensive. Through teaching his philosophies of “know the why, and then the how” and “knowing what to do when you don’t know what to do”, he has seen excellent results over the years in both IGCSE and A-Level, with several of his students receiving offers from Cambridge University, as well as other outstanding universities around the world.

Fred, as all educators do, continues to hone his teaching skills and contributions to the school by actively participating in Continued Professional Development. This is largely supported and provided by the Nord Anglia University and has included international training by experts in their fields. As a result of this, he brings this training to his department to ensure that lessons and curriculum are specifically designed for the BSG community with the intent of students gaining access to the best universities available.

Fred’s passion can be seen throughout his lessons, but also throughout the school. As a fiercely supportive member of the Saxons house, he hopes to help, support, and see his fellow Saxons reach the ultimate goal of House Champions this year. Go Saxons!

Outside of school, Fred can be seen with his family; his wonderful wife and two amazing daughters (also students at BSG), enjoying the cultural diversity that Guangzhou has to offer. He is also currently training for the Guangzhou Marathon and can often be seen running outside with his dog, Chili.
