Josh is a knowledgeable educator, originally from the UK. He holds a BSc in Natural Sciences from Durham University, specializing in behavioural and evolutionary ecology. With a deep-rooted enthusiasm for all things biological, Josh brings a wealth of expertise to our academic team.
After completing his degree, Josh made the natural transition into teaching at a full-time boarding school in the north-west of England. There, he successfully completed his PGCE in Science while actively teaching GCSE and A-level courses. Not limiting himself to academics, Josh also took on the role of a sports coach and actively participated in the pastoral care of the students.
Driven by a desire to explore new horizons, Josh set his sights on international teaching opportunities. In 2021, he embarked on a journey to China, where he taught science in a bilingual school. This experience allowed him to further enhance his teaching practice, particularly in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.
With his expansive knowledge and dedication to promoting scientific curiosity, Josh joined BSG in 2022. He took on the role of the Biology Coordinator, where he leads the charge in cultivating a strong Biology capital amongst our students. Through the Biology Society (BioSoc), Josh encourages student engagement and exploration in the field of biology. Additionally, he spearheads the HPQ (Higher Project Qualification) program, ensuring that all biology enthusiasts at BSG are continuously challenged and stretched academically.
Beyond the classroom, Josh is an avid adventurer and fitness enthusiast. He enjoys immersing himself in the local culture, exploring Guangzhou's rich history, and indulging in its vibrant culinary scene. His vibrant personality and commitment to student growth make Josh a great Head of Year 10. With his expertise, innovation, and dedication to fostering a love for learning, Josh ensures that our students receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for successful futures.
