STEAM learning in Year 3 started with a wow in our "Wonder Week".
The Year 3 students were challenged by Mrs Clark, the Head of Reception, to design and make puzzles to help the reception children learn how to count.
Over the course of the week, the students: chose a design; used Inkscape to make a scalable vector graphic that the Laser Cutter could cut; built a wooden box to hold their puzzle; and planned games and strategies they could use tho help Reception learn how to count. Finally, on Friday, Reception and Year 3 gathered together for a puzzles and play session, which went down a storm. At the end of the session, the puzzles were presented to Reception and they will be used throughout the year to support learning in counting.
It is experiences like this that provide our children with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in STEAM, and hopefully the interest, passion, and pride they need to create their future in one of the STEAM fields.
Good nutrition is essential for children’s overall health and development, impacting their physical growth, cognitive function, and emotional wellbeing.
As we approach the final week of this term, it’s the perfect moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the incredible achievements of our students over the past months.
