BSKL Under 15 Athlete makes the podium again for Selangor in Under-21 Championships
Term 3 of 2024 has been a busy term for Sasha, Year 10, with her participating in several track and field events as athletes across Malaysia gear up for the 2024 SUKMA games (Sukan Malaysia under 21 games) which will be held later this year.
From 3-5th May, Sasha represented Selangor at the Selangor Youth Athletics Championship in the Under-21 category for the Discus and Javelin events. Sasha at 15 years old, was amongst the youngest competitors in the U21 age category which saw participation from different Malaysian State teams, athletics clubs, National and state sports schools as well as local and international schools from as far as Sabah and Sarawak in East Malaysia.
With many athletes trying to meet the qualifying distances and timings to be eligible for selection to their state teams for the SUKMA games, the competition was intense. Sasha won a silver in discus with a new PB of 35.47m, improving her previous PB by over 3 metres and came fourth overall in Javelin.
Three weeks later, over the weekend of the 25-26th May, Sasha was out competing once again, this time at the Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur Pre-Sukma Athletics Championship 2024 (POWPKL-MSWP). Once again, competing in the under 21 Javelin and Discus categories, Sasha won her first ever under-21 Gold in javelin for her home state of Selangor, with a distance of 31.49m and a bronze in the Discus event.
With these two events, Sasha has represented Selangor in 4 Malaysian Under-21 meets this year and has won 2 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes, medaling in all the meets that she competed in.
We are proud of Sasha’s achievements in track and field, and we look forward to hearing more on her successes for the BSKL Lions Athletics team as well as the Selangor State team!
