This week’s update focusing on Sixth Form is written by Ms Malinowska, Head of Sixth Form.
We have reached the end of the first half of Term 2, and I would like to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable achievements of our Sixth Form students. It has been a busy, but also rewarding time for our Year 12 and Year 13 students. Year 13 students have worked diligently on their university applications - the Class of 2026 have applied to the US, Canada, UK, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and various European countries. Applications to Malaysia and Australia will be completed later in the year. We have already received offers from top-ranked universities, such as UCL, King’s College London, University of Durham, University of Manchester, University of York, and University of Bath for courses ranging from Economics to Medicine and Mechanical Engineering. Well done, Year 13! Year 12 students are in the process of applying for their chosen internships, which will take place in the last two weeks of June. This year, we are partnering with 16+ different companies across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, which include non-profit organisations, consultancy, finance, hospitality and medical opportunities. As part of the application process, Year 12 students need to submit a CV, cover letter, and attend an interview. This is excellent practice not only for any potential university interviews in Year 13, but also for the future. In addition to the above, this week was our annual KS5 mock exam week. These assessments play a crucial role in helping students consolidate learning, develop effective revision strategies and identify any gaps in knowledge they may have ahead of the real exams in May. I am proud of the conduct of all Sixth Formers this week - they worked hard to prepare for the exams and showed resilience throughout the week. Now they can rest and recharge, before returning for the final seven weeks of lessons before the summer study leave begins. Year 11 students had their first glimpse into life in Sixth Form on Monday, as they joined us for the A Level Taster Day. They tried out new subjects, such as Psychology, Media Studies and the EPQ, and engaged confidently with new materials in others. A real highlight for me was the English Literature session, where we discussed the depiction of beauty standards in the media and linked ideas to a poem in a skilful and insightful way. Finally, a reminder for all Year 11 students - our Sixth Form Community Scholarship applications close at 5pm on Friday 20th February. I look forward to receiving your submissions.
