From the energy and enthusiasm at our EYFS, Year 1, 2, and 3 Sports Festivals, to the impressive confidence and creativity displayed by our Year 5 students during their Living Museum, it has been wonderful to see our children shining in front of their families. Thank you for your presence, encouragement, and continued partnership, it’s what makes our BSKL community so special.
Next week, we begin looking ahead to the future with our Transition Week activities. On Thursday morning, all children will spend time with their new class teacher and, where applicable, their new classmates. This will be a chance for them to get to know their teacher, explore their new classroom environment, and hear all about the exciting opportunities that lie ahead in their next year group.
We know that change can bring about mixed emotions for some children, especially when class groups are being mixed. Please rest assured that these decisions have been made with great care and are based on social dynamics, learning needs, and what will support the children to thrive going forward. Mixing classes provides a valuable opportunity for children to broaden their friendships, develop adaptability, and build confidence in new social settings, important skills for life.
You can play a big role in supporting your child at home during this time of transition. Here are a few simple ways to help:
- Talk positively about change: Focus on the exciting aspects of their new year group, such as new topics, learning spaces, or activities.
- Normalize nerves: Let your child know it’s okay to feel a little unsure, and that many others feel the same.
- Celebrate their progress: Remind them of how far they’ve come this year and all they’ve achieved.
Thank you once again for your continued support and for making this week such a joyful and memorable one for our students. We look forward to sharing in the excitement of next week as the children take this next step in their learning journey.
Enjoy the long weekend,
