Simon Head Message
Week 17, Term 1, 2025/2026
As we reach the end of Term 1, I have found myself reflecting on what a truly special start to the year it has been.

From the very first day of school, there has been an unmistakable buzz across the Primary campus, children greeting old friends, welcoming new ones, settling confidently into routines, and filling our classrooms and corridors with an energy that reminds us why this community is so remarkable.

This term has been defined by joyful moments, ambitious learning, and a real sense of togetherness. Our teachers and support staff have worked incredibly hard to ensure every child feels known, supported, and celebrated, and it has been wonderful to watch each child grow in confidence and curiosity.

Learning across the school has been rich, purposeful, and filled with opportunities for children to think deeply about the world around them. This year, our Connections curriculum has grown in exciting ways. We have introduced new strands such as Financial Literacy, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Black History Month, and e-safety, giving our students a broader and more meaningful understanding of themselves and others. Our continuation of Device-Free Mondays has also been a real success, helping children to re-engage with one another, stay present in their learning, and develop healthier digital habits, something we are truly proud of as a school.

Alongside classroom learning, this term has seen a noticeable rise in both academic and House competitions, brilliantly led by Mr Antcliffe. From Maths challenges and spelling bees to Science investigations and inter-house quizzes, these events have ignited friendly competition, teamwork, and a sense of pride across the school. It has been inspiring to watch our students push themselves, celebrate one another, and embrace the spirit of healthy challenge.

This term has also been a fantastic one for Primary Sport, with strong participation and impressive achievements across multiple events. Our Cross-Country teams excelled at both the ISKL Fun Run and the AIMS Championships, earning multiple medals, several Top Ten finishes, and six new personal bests. Our new U9 Mini-Basketball programme has been a standout success, with both teams leading their leagues and the A Team finishing unbeaten to secure the AIMS Championship. The commitment shown in U11 Basketball has also been outstanding, highlighted by the U11 Girls B Team winning the AIMS title, our first in many years. A major milestone for us was hosting the first-ever Primary Padel Tournament, further reinforcing BSKL’s innovative approach to sport. We are extremely proud of the dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm shown by all our pupils this term.

The rhythm of school life has also been punctuated by events that have brought our community together in the most memorable ways. Our EYFS children melted hearts with their Nativity, performed with such joy and confidence. The Christmas Bazaar offered a warm and festive atmosphere for families, lovingly organised by our Queen of Events, Mrs Stringer. And our Christmas Concert filled the hall with music and magic, thanks to the dedication of our talented Music Team and the enthusiasm of our young performers.

These moments, along with Pink Day, Book Week, class assemblies, sports fixtures, Parent Academies, and countless small celebrations have shaped a term rich in connection and community spirit. Everywhere I look, I see children showing kindness, teachers going the extra mile, and parents supporting the school with generosity and warmth.

As we look ahead to Term 2, there is much to be excited about. New learning journeys, expanded competitions, more sporting opportunities, further curriculum development, and a continued focus on ensuring every child feels empowered to thrive.

Thank you for your partnership, your encouragement, and your trust. Your children bring so much joy to our school, and it is a privilege to watch them learn, grow, and flourish each day. To those celebrating, I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and to everyone, a restful and joyful holiday.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 2.
