Simon Head Message
Week 4, Term 2, 2025/2026
I hope you have had a good week.  I thought I would take this opportunity to briefly recap on our BSKL school values, which sit at the heart of everything we do in Primary

They help guide how children learn, how they treat others, and how they approach challenges. More importantly, they help shape the kind of young people our children are becomingnot just successful learners, but confident, compassionateand capable individuals who are ready for the future.

This week, we have seen lots of examples of our values in action across Primary:

Thank you for continuing to support and reinforce these values at home. When children experience the same messages from school and family, it has a powerful impact — helping them thrive both academically and personally.

Be KindKindness is something we see every day across Primary. It might be a child welcoming someone new into a friendship group, offering help to a classmate who is stuck, or noticing when someone is feeling a little unsure and quietly checking in. These moments may seem small, but they are powerful, they build a community where children feel safe, included, and valued.

Act with IntegrityWe often remind children that integrity means doing the right thing, even when it’s difficult. We see this when children take responsibility for their choices, tell the truth when something has gone wrong, or try to make things right after a mistake. These are the moments where children grow in maturity and character, learning that honesty, fairness, and respect matter.

Strive for HappinessIn Primary, we want school to be a place where children feel happy, excited to learn, and proud of who they are. We see this when children arrive with a positive mindset, enjoy learning alongside their friends, and take real joy in the opportunities available to them. Striving for happiness is not about everything being perfect, it’s about helping children build confidence, optimism, and a strong senseof belonging.

Be Resilient - Resilience is one of the most important qualities children can develop, and we see it in action when learning feels challenging. It might be a child who keeps going with a tricky Maths problem, has another go at writing even after receiving feedback, or tries again after not getting it right the first time. Each time children persevere, they learn an important lessonprogress comes through effort, practice, and determination.

Take Risks - We encourage children to take learning risks because that is where growth happens. We see this when children put their hand up even if they are unsure, share their thinking in class discussions, or choose to challenge themselves with something new. It may also be trying a new sport, joining a CCA for the first time, or stepping outside of their comfort zone socially. These brave moments help children become more confident, independent, and willing to learn from experience.

Be Ambitious - Ambition at BSKL is about children aiming high and believing they can achieve great things. We see ambition when children set themselves goals, take pride in improving their work, and challenge themselves to keep getting better. It’s not about being “the best” it’s about being your best, and understanding that success is built through dedication, focus, and a willingness to keep learning.

Thank you for supporting and reinforcing these values at home. When children experience the same messages from school and family, it has a lasting impact, helpingthem thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. Enjoy the long weekend and to those celebrating Thaipusam wishing you strength and blessings.

Warm regards,
