As we move through a particularly full and purposeful period in the school calendar, it feels important to pause and recognise the collective effort that continues to shape our community so positively. Recent weeks have been rich with opportunities for reflection, transition and growth, and none of this happens without the commitment of students, staff and families working together. Our Year 9 Options activities have been a highlight, providing students with the chance to explore pathways, ask thoughtful questions and begin shaping the next stage of their learning journey. The maturity with which students approach these decisions is always impressive to witness, and we are grateful to staff who offered guidance, subject insights and reassurance, as well as to parents who engaged so constructively in the process. Similarly, the Year 11 Sixth Form Taster activities launched in this week’s assembly will offer students a valuable glimpse into life beyond GCSEs. These sessions are aimed at sparking curiosity, confidence and ambition, helping students to see themselves as future Sixth Formers and to understand the expectations and opportunities that lie ahead. Thank you to all colleagues who are involved in the planning and delivery of these experiences, and to students for embracing the process with enthusiasm. Our recent Parent-Teacher Conferences were another reminder of the strength of our partnerships. These conversations, focused on progress, wellbeing and next steps, are most powerful when they are collaborative and purposeful, and we appreciate the time and care invested by staff and families alike. As you may have seen mentioned in Mr Horne’s recent video, there were over 4000 appointments hosted over three and a half days engaging 80% of the parents in the relevant year groups. This is an amazing representation of the commitment our parents have to supporting their children. Thank you to everyone involved. Finally, following the Year 11 mock examinations, we have been encouraged by the thoughtful reflections and evaluations taking place this week. Mocks are never easy, but they provide a crucial opportunity for learning, adjustment and resilience. Students have engaged maturely with feedback, and staff have worked hard to support them in turning reflection into action. These conversations will continue into next week and will form the basis for the planning of the remaining weeks of teaching for the Year 11 students. Across all of these events - and the many everyday interactions that underpin them - we see a community that values effort, kindness and shared responsibility. Thank you to everyone who contributes, often quietly and behind the scenes, to making our school a place where people feel supported, challenged and proud to belong.
