Our Year 3 students took part in a special one-night sleepover at school, giving them their very first taste of an overnight experience in a familiar environment. For many children, this was an exciting milestone. They showed growing independence by organising their belongings, getting ready for bed, following evening routines and settling themselves overnight with encouragement from staff and friends. Our Year 4 students travelled to Ipoh, where they enjoyed a range of exciting activities, explored a new environment and developed their confidence away from home. Many demonstrated resilience by trying unfamiliar activities, adapting to new surroundings and encouraging classmates who felt unsure. Our Year 5 students headed to Sungkai, where they embraced outdoor challenges, teamwork tasks and adventurous experiences. They learned the importance of cooperation by listening to one another, solving problems together and supporting their peers to complete group challenges. Meanwhile, our Year 6 students travelled to Penyabong, where they took part in activities that pushed them beyond their comfort zones and created lasting memories together as they prepare for their final term in Primary. They showed maturity and leadership by looking after one another, taking responsibility for routines, and leading by example during activities and shared living arrangements. These experiences are about so much more than the destination. They are an important part of a child’s personal development and help nurture qualities that will benefit them for years to come. Across all year groups, children built confidence by spending time away from home, strengthened friendships through shared meals and team activities, and developed resilience when faced with challenges that did not always go to plan the first time. Some of the most valuable moments often happen outside the planned activities. Children learn patience while waiting their turn, kindness when helping a friend, courage when attempting something new, and gratitude when appreciating the care and effort of others around them. Although we had a relatively high percentage of each year group attend, going forward I would love to see every child take part in our residential programme. Having taken part in many trips during my time in education, I have seen first-hand the incredible impact these experiences can have on a child. Time and again, I have watched children return more confident, more independent, more resilient and with stronger friendships than when they left. For many, these trips become defining moments in their school journey and memories they carry for years to come. I would like to thank all of our staff who gave their time, energy and care to make these experiences possible. Their commitment ensures that our children are safe, supported and able to enjoy such rich and rewarding opportunities. Most of all, I am incredibly proud of our students. They represented BSKL with enthusiasm, kindness and courage, and I am sure they will return with wonderful stories and memories to share. Enjoy the long weekend,
