One of the greatest privileges of working in an international school is the opportunity to learn from and alongside people from all over the world. At BSKL, we are proud to have more than 70 nationalities represented within our community, and days like today remind us just how special and unique that truly is.
Throughout the day, our children had the opportunity to experience cultures from across the globe through country stalls, traditional clothing, quizzes, games, music, and, of course, an incredible range of food. From tasting new dishes to learning about traditions and customs from different countries, the experiences on offer helped our children develop a deeper understanding, appreciation, and respect for the world around them.
International Day is about far more than celebration. It is about helping children grow into open-minded, curious, compassionate young people who value diversity and understand the importance of global citizenship. The opportunity to interact daily with children and families from so many different cultures is something truly special and helps prepare our students for the diverse and interconnected world they will grow up in.
Being part of a thriving, community-focused international school also brings so many wider benefits for our children. They learn to communicate confidently with people from different backgrounds, develop empathy and adaptability, and gain perspectives that extend far beyond the classroom. They build friendships with children from all over the world and learn that while we may have different traditions, languages, and experiences, there is far more that unites us than divides us.
For many of our students, this environment helps develop resilience, confidence, curiosity, and a genuine sense of belonging. It creates globally minded young people who are comfortable embracing new experiences, asking questions, and celebrating differences. In a world that is becoming increasingly connected, these are invaluable life skills that will support them far beyond their years at school.
What makes BSKL particularly special is the strength of the community that sits behind these experiences. Events such as International Day simply would not be possible without the incredible support of our families and staff, who work together to create opportunities that enrich the lives of our children.
A huge thank you must go to all of the parents and staff who worked so hard to make today such a memorable experience for the children. In particular, I would like to recognise and praise the parents who ran the country stalls today. The amount of time, effort, creativity, and generosity that went into preparing the stalls was truly incredible. Many parents went above and beyond to create immersive, engaging, and authentic experiences for the children, helping to bring cultures from around the world to life in such meaningful and memorable ways.
From the beautifully decorated displays to the activities, traditional dress, performances, and outstanding food, the passion and pride shown by our parent community was exceptional. Your willingness to give up your time and contribute so much energy and care made a huge difference to the success of the day and created lasting memories for our children. It was wonderful to see the school community come together in such a positive, joyful, and vibrant way.
Thank you once again to everyone involved in making International Day 2026 such a success.
Enjoy the long weekend.
