Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
On Friday 11th February 2022, primary pupils at BST learnt about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which is being celebrated this year. The children learnt about the Queen’s role and what the Platinum Jubilee means. Many were surprised that she had been on the throne for 70 years!

Table Tennis Wins
Last week the BST PE department hosted two days of Table Tennis tournaments for Key Stage 3-5 players. Table tennis has been a popular activity during breaks and lunch times and students were keen to test themselves in a more formal manner.

STEAM On….
On Friday 11th February we held our STEAM Day. The day inspired students to explore and pursue their interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Students from Year 7-10 were challenged to build a model/prototype to demonstrate a concept in Science, Math or Engineering.

Unsung Hero - Mr. Aziz Abdumukhtarov
After almost 18 months of working together, there are some things we all know about Mr Aziz. He is an exceptional multitasker, versatile, diligent, liked and trusted by students, staff and parents and probably the most connected Marketer in Tashkent. Maths Week
This week during Maths Week in the Primary School, we have been using the book 365 Penguins by Jean-Luc Fromental as our theme. The teachers have planned and delivered different mathematical activities for the children to work on, allowing them to talk about the maths they are learning with their peers. We ended the week with a 'Happy Feet' march dressed as penguins.

What is the Growth Mindset Video
Mr Simon Porter delivered a virtual session on the "Growth-Mindset" on Friday 21st January, based on the work of Professor Carol Dweck of Stanford University. He also gave ideas and tactics on how to instill the Growth Mindset in your children. The session was followed by an introduction to the new PTFA (Parent Teacher Friends Association) committee.

Outstanding Examination Results
A number of our students at the British School of Tashkent took Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE and AS level examinations in the November session. Our students continue to excel in these international examinations following our stunning results last June. We are proud to announce that our pass rate at IGCSE level this November was 100% with all of our entries attaining the top A* grade. In our AS level components in Maths and Physics, 80% of our students achieved a complete sweep of all top grades.

Multilingual Development Programme at BST
Our BST secondary school teachers are currently engaged in a Multilingual Learning Programme which is being delivered by Ms Deborah and Ms Laman in conjunction with Nord Anglia University. This programme draws on research evidence on the most effective strategies for teaching and learning in a multilingual environment. Our main focus is to raise awareness of our students’ linguistic needs and to support the development of a range of strategies for developing language through the curriculum.

COBIS Debate Best Speakers
Last weekend, twelve of our wonderful Year 12 and 13 students took part in The COBIS Virtual Debate, competing against other British international schools from across the globe. Our BST students did us proud and impressed the judges with their intelligence, eloquence and skilful use of logic. Abdalaziz Saleh Al Hadad, Moritz Kramer and Advait Anand Motgi all won best speaker in their debates.
