At the British School of Tashkent we understand the importance of maximizing your child’s ability to access the British National Curriculum even if they speak a language other than English.  Our primary school has a robust EAL programme that identifies language needs specific to the individual child on arrival.  If your child is a beginner or at an emerging level of English proficiency, they will enter the EAL programme, whereby they will be provided with small group, high intensity language instruction appropriate to their individual needs. Their progress will be monitored closely and regularly by their teacher and the Head of Primary EAL.  When your child has made progress in all 4 language skills, including Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, they will re-join their mainstream English class. At BST, our classroom teachers are very aware of the language needs of their students.  Any child who is not a native English speaker or an absolute bilingual will have their language development tracked.  Our system supports teachers in knowing how best to develop a language focus in their lessons, not just in English, but across all subjects. We look forward to supporting your child on their language learning journey.
