The Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan (AmCham) hosted a “Green Tashkent” conference on 12th March. This conference was dedicated to the launch of a national program to improve the ecosystems of Tashkent. The recycling program that is being developed is called MaxsusTrans.
The British School of Tashkent was invited to the conference. Three sixth form students (Dono Abdurahmanova, Doniyor Bakhodirov and Bekhruz Suleymanov) from BST had the opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns about recycling and sustainability. They did a presentation about the importance of recycling in schools to protect our planet for future generations. This presentation was done for local and international organizations and embassies. BST felt that it is very important to have young people’s perspectives on recycling heard, because it will become their responsibility to lead these initiatives in future.
