Multilingual Development Programme at BST Our BST secondary school teachers are currently engaged in a Multilingual Learning Programme which is being delivered by Ms Deborah and Ms Laman in conjunction with Nord Anglia University. This programme draws on research evidence on the most effective strategies for teaching and learning in a multilingual environment. Our main focus is to raise awareness of our students’ linguistic needs and to support the development of a range of strategies for developing language through the curriculum.

Our BST secondary school teachers are currently engaged in a Multilingual Learning Programme which is being delivered by Ms Deborah and Ms Laman in conjunction with Nord Anglia University.  This programme draws on research evidence on the most effective strategies for teaching and learning in a multilingual environment.  Our main focus is to raise awareness of our students’ linguistic needs and to support the development of a range of strategies for developing language through the curriculum.

This 16-hour programme is a key area of development for our secondary staff.  They are developing an enhanced understanding of what emergent bilinguals need at all stages of additional language acquisition.  The practical nature of the course means teachers are given the opportunity to consolidate their professional learning by implementing their new scaffolding and language development skills in their subject areas.
