Meet Ms Paiva our new Year 5 teacher

Meet Ms Paiva Our Year 5 Teacher - Meet Ms Paiva our new Year 5 teacher
Hello everyone, I am delighted to introduce myself as Ms. Paiva, BSY’s new Year 5 teacher! I am excited to embark on this wonderful journey with you and contribute to the growth and development of our students. Before entering the teaching profession, my educational journey took me on various paths. After graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University, where I earned a degree in marketing, I decided to follow my true passion for education. I returned to university and completed a postgraduate degree in child education from Northumbria University. It was during this time that my desire to help children, parents, and carers achieve their goals truly flourished.

As a Year 5 teacher, I am particularly passionate about supporting English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners. I understand firsthand the challenges faced by EAL learners, as English was my third language as well. However, with my degrees in English and my own personal journey of language acquisition, I have developed valuable insights and strategies to empower EAL learners. My goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive and reach their full potential.

What do you look forward to the most about moving to Myanmar?

Moving to Myanmar is an exciting adventure for me, as I am eager to immerse myself in the vibrant culture, savor the delicious cuisine, and build meaningful connections with the warm-hearted people. I have always been fascinated by different cultures, and I deeply respect and appreciate the diversity that each culture brings. The opportunity to experience Myanmar's rich heritage and traditions is something I eagerly anticipate.

What excites you the most about joining BSY?

Joining BSY brings me great joy, as it is a school that values collaboration, inclusivity, and a strong partnership between educators, parents, and carers. I am thrilled to be part of such a fantastic family that opens its doors with open arms to children with diverse backgrounds and supports them on their educational journey. Together, we will create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment that fosters growth and success for all students.

What are you most looking forward to during your first week at the school?

During my first week at the school, I am most excited about getting to know the children and their families. Family and education hold immense importance to me, as they have played pivotal roles in shaping my own life. I believe that by building strong connections with both students and their families, we can create a collaborative and supportive network that will enhance the educational experience for everyone involved.

Could you share a bit about your educational background and any specialized training or certifications you have?

In terms of my educational background, I hold degrees in marketing and child education from Northumbria University. These diverse areas of study have equipped me with a unique skill set that allows me to approach teaching with a creative and holistic perspective. I have experience working with students across different year groups, including Year 1, Year 2, and Year 6, which has given me valuable insights into the unique needs and abilities of students at various stages of their educational journey.

What has been your favorite teaching experience so far?

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was working with students in a deprived area where they faced numerous challenges. Despite their circumstances, I was able to inspire them to dream big and explore new horizons. Witnessing their growth and determination, one student even took up the challenge of learning a new language, beyond English, as a result of my guidance and support. Their achievements were truly inspirational and a testament to the power of education.

Are there any specific goals or aspirations you have for Primary at BSY this academic year?

As we begin this academic year at BSY, my goal for Primary is to foster global citizenship and prepare our students for a future filled with endless possibilities. I aim to instill in them the belief that they can achieve greatness, regardless of their background or language proficiency. Together, as a team, we will support and empower each child to reach their fullest potential.

In closing, I would like to emphasize that I am fluent in three languages: Portuguese, Dutch, and English. Growing up, education, family, and respect were deeply ingrained values in my upbringing. I come from a large family, where these principles were cherished and celebrated. I am excited to bring my diverse experiences, passion for education, and dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment to the vibrant BSY community.

I look forward to embarking on this wonderful educational journey together and making a positive impact on the lives of our students.
