OUR SOCIAL PURPOSE

At The British School Yangon, we empower our students to become global changemakers. Through incredible opportunities with Nord Anglia, your child will develop the curiosity, confidence and courage to make the world a brighter place.

IMPACT STARTS AT SCHOOL

To strengthen each child’s sense of social responsibility, we give our students the platforms they need to deliver positive change.

Year after year, the Nord Anglia Student Advisory Board leads the way. We elect two student leaders at The British School Yangon to join peers from Nord Anglia schools worldwide. They work together on the Advisory Board to decide how to fund and deliver social impact projects. Our students advocate on behalf of their peers worldwide and award grants that transform lives around the world.

At The British School Yangon, we’ve been inspired by our peers’ projects at sister Nord Anglia schools.
  • Students at Eton School Mexico are building five sustainable houses for the Conchita community in partnership with the NGO ‘Techo’.
  • Students at Oakridge International School, Gachibowli in India are creating free healthcare camps in rural villages and underprivileged schools.
  • At the British School of Houston, students are growing fruit and vegetables for local communities in their school's greenhouse.
  • Students at the British Vietnamese International School Hanoi are building infrastructure for the Floating Village on the Red River Hanoi, where many families are living in poverty.

BUILDING GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP

Every year, our students have the opportunity to travel internationally to the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, where they help to build a school. Through practical tasks like bricklaying, mixing cement, digging foundations, and plastering, they give their hands to the local community while learning more about sustainable development.

NORD ANGLIA’S COLLABORATION WITH UNICEF

Nord Anglia Education's collaboration with UNICEF is yet another important way we challenge our students to think about how they can make a difference.

Each year, UNICEF and Nord Anglia invite our students to come up with innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems, following the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Students in Years 11–13 devise meaningful proposals, from improvements in clean energy to peace and justice, before sharing their ideas at the Global Summit in New York City.
