School uniforms
Our school uniforms help students to focus on their studies, while encouraging a strong sense of pride in our community and positive social interaction. Our uniforms are of the highest quality, produced by a top British clothing manufacturer.

The house system
Our flourishing house system strengthens our community. Every child belongs to one of four houses. The houses have friendly inter-house competitions of sporting, academic, and community events, where they collaborate across year groups to earn points for their house.
Social media
Through social media, we’ll keep you informed about one-of-a-kind learning experiences at BSY. We’re always igniting possibilities and sharing news about upcoming events, too.

Through a variety of after-school clubs and activities, your child will discover their strengths, follow their passions, and do what inspires them.
Your child can get active and hone their physical skills through our exciting programme of athletics and games, which include gymnastics, basketball, football, swimming, and rugby.
The arts
Whether your child enjoys art and design, music, or dance, there’s a creative activity for them at BSY. We’ll ignite their imagination and encourage self-expression every day.
Leadership activities
Your child can make their voice heard as a Model United Nations delegate, house captain, sports captain, or eco and social impact leader. Through Nord Anglia, they can even take part in the UNICEF summit and Social Impact Grant programme.
Special interests
We bring out the best in every child! Whether your child loves board games, enjoys coding, or wants to practice their public speaking, we offer activities across many interests, every term.
Each term, your child can practice their language skills by speaking, reading, and listening with their friends. From Burmese stories to reviewing English books, your child will grow in confidence.

Is your family moving to Yangon? Are you unsure what to expect? We’re here to help. Yangon is the kind of city where you can immerse yourself in history and culture at every turn. As Myanmar's lively economic hub, living here means you'll enjoy a huge variety of experiences, too.

  • How do you communicate with parents and guardians?
We really value working closely with parents and guardians, so we can create the best experience for your children at The British School Yangon. We use efficient, clear communication channels that we vary according to the information we want to share with you.

For example, our day-to-day routine involves sharing information through your child’s ‘student diary’, emails, telephone calls, formal/informal meetings, and/or the parent blog. Throughout the academic year, we also host regular coffee mornings, parent-teacher consultations, and reports on your child’s progress.
  • How do parents get involved at BSY?

Parents get involved at coffee mornings, parent information evenings, community events, and Principal Q&A sessions.

We also have a wealth of other opportunities for parents:

    • In EYFS and primary, parent class representatives assist our community by sharing information with other parents.
    • In secondary school, parents help to deliver our PSHE curriculum and assessment workshops.
    • Through our Parent Teacher Group (PTG), parents collaborate to support our school through fundraising and community events.
  • Where do your families live? Do you have school buses?
Our families live all across Yangon, from Downtown (in the south of the city) to Mingaladon Township (in the north). We offer school buses which cover most areas – but depending on student numbers and the popularity of routes, we may not be able to cater to every student. Buses are an additional service that are not included in the school fees.
  • Do you provide lunch?
Yes, all students enjoy a healthy lunch prepared by our school.

We make well-balanced meals with carbohydrates, proteins, and vegetables. Our teachers also sit with students over lunch to help them practice good table manners.
  • How do you ensure good behaviour and manners?
We have a Code of Conduct that nurtures a warm, vibrant atmosphere for all teaching and learning. Our teachers and staff help students build good behaviour by encouraging self-discipline, responsibility, self-respect, and respect for others.

We look after students closely and uphold high standards and realistic expectations that are clear and consistent. We encourage students to always embody our school’s values – in the corridor, the classroom, and beyond!
