Last week was another busy one for the BSY Bears with 6 of our teams competing in basketball and volleyball.
The BSY Bears' U14 basketball teams, both boys and girls, emerged as undeniable champions. The boys' team exhibited an exceptional display of skill, outscoring their opponents from MIS with a commanding score of 62-12. The girls' team also put on a stellar performance, securing a well-deserved victory with a score of 17-8. Their remarkable teamwork and dedication shone through, earning them their respective victories.
In an exciting U11 basketball showdown between BSY and Kings Yangon, the boys' team emerged victorious with a score of 4-0, while the girls' team displayed their prowess on the court, winning with a score of 12-8. It was a thrilling match that showcased the skill and determination of these young athletes from both schools.
However, the volleyball matches proved to be a rigorous test for the BSY Bears in the U19 category. The U19 boys' volleyball team engaged in a thrilling and closely contested match, ultimately falling just short with a scoreline of 1-2. The intensity and competitive spirit displayed by both teams were commendable. Similarly, the U19 girls' volleyball team exhibited exceptional skill and sportsmanship in a closely fought match, ending with a score of 0-2. Their determination and teamwork were evident throughout the game.
‘Music is a language the whole world speaks’ – An adapted quote from the famous 19th Century Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that still rings true today. Music has always had an influence in every culture across the globe and seems to be intrinsically and instinctively universal.
Last year marked an exciting chapter for the British School Yangon as we launched our first MIT challenges, designed to push the boundaries of learning by encouraging students to dive deep into hands-on, collaborative problem-solving. From Early Years to Year 10, students engaged in challenges that stimulated their curiosity, sharpened their critical thinking, and connected classroom knowledge to real-world applications. What started as an initiative has now become a defining feature of our curriculum.
We are excited to share a significant milestone in our journey: The British School Yangon (BSY) has officially received accreditation from the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). This prestigious recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education that aligns with British standards.
