The magic of the festive season descended on the BSY campus last Friday afternoon as the school hosted our much-anticipated Winter Fair and Holiday Market. The event was a resounding success, creating a Christmas atmosphere that brought joy and holiday spirit to the entire BSY community.
One of the highlights of the day was the special visit from the man in red himself—Santa Claus! Children and adults alike were thrilled to meet Santa, share their holiday wishes, and capture precious moments with the jolly old fellow.
The Winter Fair and Holiday Market also featured a vibrant array of local vendors showcasing their unique wares. From handmade crafts to delicious treats, attendees had the opportunity to explore and support local businesses while finding the perfect gifts for the upcoming holiday season.
Musical performances provided a melodic backdrop to the day, enhancing the festive ambiance with joyful and familiar tunes that had attendees tapping their feet and getting into the holiday groove.
The younger members of the BSY community were treated to an array of activities, including bouncy castles that elicited laughter and giggles throughout the day. The enchanting fire show captivated audiences with its mesmerizing display, adding an element of magic and wonder to the winter festivities.
The excitement reached its peak during the raffle draw, where lucky winners walked away with fabulous prizes, adding an extra layer of thrill to an already joyous occasion. Congratulations to all the prize winners!
The success of the fair wouldn't have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the BSY staff. Their hard work and commitment to creating a festive environment were truly commendable. A sincere thank you to all the staff members who helped organise such an amazing event, with special mention going to Susan Thae our events coordinator and all-around star.
As the Winter Fair and Holiday Market brought the curtain down on the term’s events, the BSY community is filled with gratitude and festive cheer. Happy holidays to all our students, parents, teachers, and staff! We look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 2 filled with new opportunities and continued community spirit.
‘Music is a language the whole world speaks’ – An adapted quote from the famous 19th Century Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that still rings true today. Music has always had an influence in every culture across the globe and seems to be intrinsically and instinctively universal.
Last year marked an exciting chapter for the British School Yangon as we launched our first MIT challenges, designed to push the boundaries of learning by encouraging students to dive deep into hands-on, collaborative problem-solving. From Early Years to Year 10, students engaged in challenges that stimulated their curiosity, sharpened their critical thinking, and connected classroom knowledge to real-world applications. What started as an initiative has now become a defining feature of our curriculum.
We are excited to share a significant milestone in our journey: The British School Yangon (BSY) has officially received accreditation from the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). This prestigious recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education that aligns with British standards.
