I'm thrilled to join the British School of Yangon (BSY) community! Returning to Yangon, my mother's birthplace, adds a special personal touch to this new chapter.
BSY's international environment aligns with my passion for nurturing curious, compassionate global citizens. My husband, Faisal Shahid, a Computer Science specialist, shares my excitement about exploring this vibrant city with our family.
I graduated from the University of Manchester and completed my teacher training at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003. Outside the classroom, I love practicing martial arts, hiking, and exploring historical sites. Recent adventures include visiting Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City War Museum and Mangrove forests, and scaling Dragon Mountain.
For the past three years, I've taught the Cambridge Primary curriculum at Vinschool in Hanoi, Vietnam, and previously taught in London primary schools. With over ten years of experience teaching various subjects from KS3 to A-levels and BTEC courses, I'm adept at adapting to diverse learners and fostering inclusive environments.
I'm eager to meet you and your children and contribute to their educational journey at BSY. Let's embark on this adventure together!
‘Music is a language the whole world speaks’ – An adapted quote from the famous 19th Century Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that still rings true today. Music has always had an influence in every culture across the globe and seems to be intrinsically and instinctively universal.
Last year marked an exciting chapter for the British School Yangon as we launched our first MIT challenges, designed to push the boundaries of learning by encouraging students to dive deep into hands-on, collaborative problem-solving. From Early Years to Year 10, students engaged in challenges that stimulated their curiosity, sharpened their critical thinking, and connected classroom knowledge to real-world applications. What started as an initiative has now become a defining feature of our curriculum.
