Primary Weekly Update 29/06/2018 from Mrs Sharon West

This week has been a one full of celebration! On Tuesday evening, we were dazzled by the numerous talents on display in the Year 6 Performance of Bugsy Malone. This truly was an epic performance and our most ambitious to date. The children delighted us with their acting, singing, dancing, stage design, costumes; everything about the performance was extremely professional.  It was wonderful to be able to sit in the audience and hear the parents laugh out loud at the jokes told by the actors and engage so well with the story. Year 3 rose to the occasion in the ‘Down and Out’ scene with both their singing and dancing with Hong, YeChan from Year 2 playing the character of ‘Baby Face’ perfectly. The words of the final song were so very poignant, ‘You give a little love and it all comes back to you.  You know you gonna be remembered for the things you say and do.’   We will definitely remember our wonderful Year 6 children from this memorable performance.

The parents of the children in F3 were invited to school on Wednesday for the F3 Graduation Ceremony. The children blended a mix of traditional school songs in Vietnamese with more unusual songs like ‘Jelly on a Plate,’ to entertain us all and show their families how ready they are to move to Year 1 and the next stage of their learning journey. On Thursday, we once again met as a community and a family to say our final goodbyes to Year 6, a very emotional occasion but a wonderful chance to share special memories of the time the children have been with us. A huge thanks, as always, to all the teachers and teaching assistants who worked so well with the children to prepare them for these celebrations.  There are too many to mention by name but as I said in my speech after Bugsy, we are so lucky to have such a talented, dedicated teaching team in our school who are committed to the nurturing of your children on a daily basis.

For me, I wish you all a fond farewell and take with me so many wonderful memories of my time here. My sincere thanks for allowing me to become part of your families over the last five years.  BVIS will always have a special place in my heart.
