Dear CDS Families,
There is no slowing down now! Week two has seen our school community continue to progress and thrive. Kicking off this week we officially welcomed our entire student body into the 2022-2023 school year with our first all school assembly in over 2 years! The event was organized by the senior class and saw many of our students from all grade levels participating in games, relays, and even a little karaoke trivia. It was amazing to be able to bring all the students together again and have the chance to recognize our seniors as they set out on their final year at CDS and spotlight them as leaders in our community.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my day is spending time visiting our teachers and students in classrooms. This week was filled with moments of joy, pride, and laughter as I was fortunate to see classes at all grade levels including high school students thinking critically in Ms. Agney’s social studies class, watching our youngest students dancing and learning through play and music in Ms. Soler’s prep class, and witness some of our 7th and 8th grade students discover the beauty of the Mandarin language with Ms. Yuwei Yang. These experiences are only a few of the many amazing things that are happening in our classrooms every day. Ask your child to share their day's events and activities with you at home and to see how they feel about their classes, their friendships, and the learning environment that exists at CDS.
As a community, we continue to work towards our goals of creating new, positive energy, enthusiasm, and pride in our school, creating a sense of belonging for all, building capacity in our staff to lead meaningful change, and championing communication in all areas of our school.
We look forward to the month of September and all the events and activities that it will bring.
