Dear Families,

Words from Primary | 09 September 2022 | CDS Costa Rica - words-from-primary

We had a fun-filled morning of activities to celebrate Children’s Day on Friday. This included the imaginative play in Early Childhood. Students became professional racecar drivers, took on a carnival character after creating masks, and activated all senses during our carnival shared snack. Play-based learning is at the heart of our EC curriculum, so it was truly a special day to see students at “work”.

In Elementary school, students’ teamwork, leadership, and other interpersonal skills were put to the test during our scavenger hunt. Students navigated through a series of tasks including a relay race, the creation of a synchronized dance routine, and solving a group puzzle. Our scavenger hunt was a great way to demonstrate school values while having an amazing time!

Please check out our Children's day celebration pictures on this link.

Semana Civica

Civic Week

We have several activities planned for civic week (Sept. 12-16). Students will have the opportunity to take a picture with a real ox cart on Wednesday, enjoy a shared snack after Friday’s assembly, and participate in different Costa Rican-themed activities during Spanish class throughout the week. Families are welcome to join the Cimarrona starting at 10:30 am. ES and EC secretaries will have a sign-out sheet available for families who want to take their children home after the festivities. Please check out the main section of the newsletter for a complete list of themed dress days for next week.

Field Trips

Environmental Field Trips

We are eager for students to step outside of the classroom and participate in field trips this year. If you have an interest in volunteering as a chaperon on a trip this year, you’ll need to complete a safeguarding course. We recommend you do this in advance. Please email the house secretary to begin the safeguarding process.
