Hello Middle and High School Families!
It’s been another great week at the Secondary! The Middle School students had their Club Fair today and the High School students heard from the political parties that are running in the Student Council election. We are very excited about our 15 de Septiembre celebrations next week!
Costa Rica’s Independence Day celebrations will occur throughout this week. On Monday morning, the students will observe a traditional raising of the Costa Rican Flag via live stream: you can access the stream here. On Wednesday, we will have a traditional Ox Cart on the school grounds to recognize the Costa Rican agricultural traditions. On Friday, we will have a full-school assembly to celebrate the day. Students are encouraged to celebrate all week by observing the following dress-up days:

What should I be doing right now?
This is a frequent question that both parents and students ask themselves. Remember that applying to college is a four-year process that started in 9th grade. Thus, in order to start meaningful conversations at home, these few pointers may help out:
- 9th grade: Join clubs, look at what drives you, and hopefully find what you are passionate about.
- 10th grade: Keep on working on your co-curricular activities, be more proactive in them, and start to look at what you are passionate about and link it to possible career opportunities.
- 11th grade: Start researching universities, participate in co-curricular activities, and think about your possible major.
- 12 grade: It's crunch time, start by filling out the Common App, selecting universities, finishing the student profile, asking for letters of recommendation, and writing your essays.
