Hello CDS Families,
I hope this finds you well and ready to enjoy your weekend! The CDS Educational Development Association is one of the most important initiatives that we have here in our school and one of the least known. The CDS “EDA” is an association that provides full scholarships to deserving students who, without support, would not be able to access the amazing educational opportunities provided by CDS. Many of you may not even know that you have contributed to the education of one of our sponsored students through your one-time admissions fee of $1000 paid by every new CDS family upon entering school.
Currently, CDS EDA is sponsoring 4 students with a full 4-year high school scholarship. Since 2010, the CDS EDA has made it possible for 27 students to receive 4-year scholarships. As we keep in touch with our scholars, we have seen them attend schools in the United States such as Yale University, University of Missouri, Drexell University, Washington and Lee University, and others in Costa Rica attending UCR and UCIMED.
The positive effects of the CDS EDA are undeniable and being able to support young adolescents with huge amounts of potential to achieve their dreams is something very special. We would like to draw attention to CDS EDA because we are looking to open new avenues to receive donations. Currently, the only source of funding is through our one-time new family fee. We would like to open donations to any family who would like to contribute as much or as little to the association as possible.
We would also like to open our profile of students we look to support with these scholarships. We want to find not only deserving academic scholars, but student athletes, musicians, and above all, leaders. If you are interested in learning more about the CDS EDA, please contact me at jack.young@cds.ed.cr and I would be happy to sit down and discuss this amazing aspect of our school community.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Highest Regards,
Jack Young
General Director
