The year 2020 has become a historic year for everyone, even before it is over, as the great "adventure" of lockdown has left a deep imprint on both memory and behavior. It will certainly remain so in schools where they had to take up the challenge of moving to distance learning and dealing with different and unique situations in each group. Champittet has already succeeded in doing so thanks to the fantastic results of our final year students, all of whom have obtained their secondary school diplomas.
3 times 100% is not ordinary, it had never before happened in the yet long and glorious history of our School, nor is it easy, even in a year in which 2 of the 3 diplomas were awarded without a final exam. For the French Baccalaureate and the International Baccalaureate, because of the difficulty for the authorities to clarify the grading process and the issuing of qualifications, the school work went all the way to the end, and it was necessary to maintain motivation among students in a context full of uncertainty. For the Swiss Maturity, the commitment of the teachers who spent some of their holidays doing extra revision work and giving final advice to students before the exams at the end of August must be highlighted!
These results are down to our exceptional students, of course, and it is thanks to their work that they succeeded. But it is also thanks to the involvement of their teachers and the confidence they have gained from them that they were able to inspire them to do so. From the smallest to the largest classes, everyone is concerned by this success since some of our now Alumni have spent all their school days at Champittet and their success is the success of the whole community.
If Champittet is a school that takes up all kinds of challenges, then this three diploma "hat trick" for the classes of 2020 was a major one in line with our hopes and wishes, it is because we are convinced that the keys to success is solidarity, courage and competence, and that when these three qualities are combined, this very demanding, sometimes difficult job, which is education, leads to the most beautiful reward, which is the success of our students.
By learning to plan their time wisely, students can be more productive, develop great study habits, and create a balanced lifestyle – one that fosters both personal and academic growth. Mastering this essential skill also sets them up for future success.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Here at Champittet, we know that inspiring children to dream big while envisioning their future is a core part of education. It’s also the focus of Dare All Trades Day, or JOM (Journée Oser tous les Métiers).
The Winter Ball is an eagerly awaited annual tradition here at Champittet, but this year brought a twist: the school’s first ever Masquerade Ball. With the theme “Black and Gold, don’t forget your mask!”, this year’s winter dance was organised by 14th-grade IB students, and the event was open to students in grades 9 and 10.
