At Collège Champittet, we believe that learning to use technology creatively is a vital skill for the future. That’s why we love seeing our students bring their knowledge to life in real-world projects. Our young innovators not only display their ingenuity in action, but often give us a preview of greater things to come!
Recently, our students were invited to participate in the first edition of the International Institute in Geneva’s “GenAI in Business” conference. The event drew a wide range of industry leaders, who addressed topics such as the use of generative AI in the workplace; data quality, security and governance; and skills and competencies for a future with generative AI. In addition, the conference featured a special student competition – and we’re thrilled to share that two Champittet students, sisters Alexia and Laetitia Vaccaro, won 2nd prize!
Under the theme “GenAI – Ad Challenge”, participants had to use generative AI to create a short video to present an original project proposal. The competition required that the video be fully produced using AI, including AI-generated images and editing done with AI tools.
Alexia and Laetitia produced a video for a project blending high-tech tools and human needs. They proposed integrating AI into glasses that would enable the wearer to interpret body language and images – an innovative solution to help people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ADS) socialise and better understand the reality around them.
The two sisters have learned a lot from the experience, and confide: "Taking part in the GenAI AD Competition alongside other university students was both an ambitious and motivating experience. It enabled us not only to explore the technical possibilities of generative AI tools, but also to use our creativity to bring this project to fruition. Working together as sisters added a special dimension to the experience and, remarkably, there were no injuries.
Beyond the competition, the conference offered perspectives on the concrete applications of AI in the business world. Meeting students from a variety of backgrounds made the experience all the richer."
Reflecting on her daughters’ achievements, mother Maria Vaccaro said, “I couldn’t be prouder of Alexia and Laetitia for being recognised among the top teams in this inspiring competition! It’s incredibly rewarding but surprising at the same time to see them engage so naturally with the world of AI and bring their own vision of how to make this world better with their project.”
As Alexia and Laetitia have demonstrated, GenAI is not just an instrument of the future – it’s an inspiring tool for young innovators to make a positive impact today!
Collaboration often leads to innovation – and for three days in May, a group of our Champittet students had the opportunity to experience just that with 200 students from across Europe at the NAE STEAM festival in Prague!
