Former Pupil Owaab Barrow Competes at IAAF World Athletic Championships Owaab Barrow achieved a personal best at the IAAF World Athletic Championships.

Owaab Barrow, a former Compass International School Doha student, took part in the IAAF World Athletics Championships 2019 this weekend, achieving a personal best of 10.64 seconds in the first round of heats in the Men’s 100m.

Owaab made it to the second round of 100m heats as part of Team Qatar.

Everyone at Compass is extremely proud of Owaab’s achievement, he truly displays our ‘Be Ambitious’ philosophy.

Owaab joined Compass in 2012 and has always been a role model to our pupils.  Owaab has achieved so much through his hard work, determination and ambition including winning the Men’s 110m Hurdles Gold during the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina last year.

Speaking to the media after the event, Owaab said: “It was a good experience for me to run. I am still a first-year junior and to run at the World Championships among the elite and top athletes is a great experience, even to be around them. It is my country, and I was focused on doing my best and running a personal best.

“I have been training with my coach Lee Christopher. He is part of the Aspire Academy and the national team, and this year has been about preparing and training for different competitions. We have been to South Africa and Germany.

“Next year, hopefully, we have the World Juniors 2020 in Kenya, and let’s hope for the best and hopefully I will compete in the event.”

Everyone at Compass wishes Owaab the best of luck for the future and look forward to supporting him at future events.
