Four DCIS students to attend MIT-Nord Anglia STEAMFest hosted by MIT in Boston
As a culmination of our school wide Global Campus initiative, four DCIS students will be attending the MIT-Nord Anglia STEAMFest hosted by MIT in Boston in April 2017. In fact, this trip will be the highlight of an enhanced STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) developed by experts, researchers and scientists from MIT.
The four winners were asked to create an invention which could be used to combat climate change (NB: Ryoma was not available at the time of the photo shoot). Here are their prize winning entries:
At MIT in Boston, the four DCIS students will interact with 80 other NAE students and will learn from renowned MIT academics through a programme of forward-looking activities including bioengineering, coding and robotics.
MIT’s philosophy of ‘mind and hand’ encourages students to develop key 21st century skills such as flexibility, creativity, communication and complex problem solving, which will support students’ success in school as well as preparing them for the jobs of the future.
The activities at the STEAMfest are created so students can take a unique approach to problem solving, working across disciplines and promoting collaboration between students in the creation of innovative solutions to real world challenges.
