Dover Court International School is preparing to open a brand-new Sixth Form Centre in the 2025–2026 academic year — a dedicated two-storey space designed to support student wellbeing, independent learning, and university preparation. The expansion reflects the school’s continued investment in its Sixth Form and its position as one of the most established international schools in Singapore.

According to Rachel Edwards, Head of Secondary, the centre marks the start of a bold new chapter for the school’s Sixth Form community. “The opening of our Sixth Form Centre symbolises the beginning of a new and exciting era for our school,” Mrs Edwards says. “Our thriving Sixth Form community of over 150 students next year will be a bespoke hub for collaboration and study.”

Level 1 of the building will house the Sixth Form Team, with more opportunities for personalised support and student connection. “With increased access to our staff, support for learning and well-being will be further amplified,” Mrs Edwards explains. The second level will focus on future planning, including university visits, career talks, and private consultations, supported by the school’s dedicated university guidance team in Singapore. “Level 2 will be the home of our Careers Counsellors, whose new offices will bring greater privacy for students and families in making those all-important decisions. This level will also bring real-world learning and futures planning to the fore through university visits and talks.”

A Flexible Space for Independent Learning

“The centre has been designed with student needs in mind,” says Rachel Edwards. “It will be an inclusive space which recognises learning as an individual and collaborative endeavour.” Flexibility was a key design feature, giving students greater agency in how and where they learn. “Students will experience greater independence and be able to make more and better choices related to how and where they learn… Whilst students will still access learning across the Secondary School, they will have their own distinct centre where our Sixth Form identity will mature and flourish.”

Supporting Ambitious Learners and Diverse Pathways

Rachel sees the new centre as a reflection of the school’s growing ambition and commitment to personalised education. “We are ambitious. We dare to be different in how we tailor programmes to meet the needs of our students. As our school has grown, so too have our aspirations to deliver world class learning experiences and effective well-being support, both of which challenge and nurture in equal measure.”

“Our staff are experienced and passionate educators who care deeply about students.” Families choosing Sixth Form at Dover Court benefit from a strong track record of results across both the IB Diploma programme in Singapore and BTEC pathways. “We offer diverse and personalised curriculum programmes crafted to amplify the strengths of our students and we consistently deliver excellent results across programmes,” says Mrs Edwards. “Above all, as a truly inclusive school, we recognise and celebrate that success looks different for every child and that our authentic diversity sets us apart.”

Looking Ahead

As the centre nears completion, Rachel Edwards looks forward to the first day. “The first time the students enter the building will be incredibly special for the school. When the first team talks take place, the very first university visit and when we see students huddled together problem solving, planning, and debating, we’ll see the true impact of this learning space.”
