Admissions to 2025-2026 are now open
The Year 10 students had an incredible week filled with excitement and learning in Borneo. They participated in various adventure activities and engaged in community service, helping them grow as individuals and as a group. Through adventure, education, and cultural exchange, this trip offered a wonderful opportunity for students to make lasting memories and deepen their understanding of environmental and social issues.
During their time in Borneo, Year 10 students stepped outside their comfort zone with participating adventure activities such as rafting, climbing, abseiling, zip-lining, high ropes, archery, kayaking, snorkelling and sea walking. It was great to witness how the students supported each other through these experiences, and it was wonderful to see real bonding among them.
A highlight of the trip was a presentation from Project Gaia about the importance of coral reefs, followed by our own coral planting activity. Students also strengthened the connections established last year with SK Pulau Sepanggar School. The children from the school performed a beautiful traditional dance for our students, and afterwards, they played traditional games together.
On the final day, they returned to the village to help clean up the plastic that washes onto the village's shores daily. Last year, our Year 10 class collected one ton of rubbish, and this year they achieved the same result! The students found the experience incredibly rewarding and reflected on the real issues surrounding plastic consumption.
They met with the City Council to discuss waste management and their responsibilities. One fun and creative activity they engaged in was building a boat out of recycled plastic bottles. The DCIS parent community has also fundraised to support the construction of a new roof for the village greenhouse. Overall, it was an amazing action-packed week with valuable learning experiences.
Students from Dover Court International School Singapore had an exciting experience this year, as 24 of our outstanding Year 5 and 6 students represented us at the Nord Anglia Education Southeast Asia Games 2025, hosted by Northbridge International School in Cambodia.
