Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese contemporary multi-artist, working primarily with paintings, sculptures, installations and poetry. Kusama is known for her patterns, nets, pumpkins and her iconic dots - her nickname is "The princess of polka dots". Last year her work was shown in an extensive and very popular exhibition at National Gallery Singapore.

Inspired by Kusama’s artwork and her pumpkins, the students in the Art Challenge ECA designed and made their own polka dot pumpkins from brightly coloured plasticine. The students were very creative and enjoyed the playfulness of Kusama's art. We had a wonderful time working with our hands and the results were really imaginative!
