As a climax to their maths learning about money, the children in Year 2 excitedly opened the doors to their charity shops.
The aim was to raise money for people who have been affected by the terrible fires in Australia and the flooding in Indonesia. The children had to decide what to sell, what the shop would be called and how much the different items would cost. They then took on different jobs; some made a shop sign, some made pricing labels and some created a poster advertising the shop. The children had to use their mental addition and subtraction skills to work out how much change to give to our customers.
It was so much fun and the children raised approximately $400 for charity. Well done Year 2!
