Students from Dover Court International School Singapore had an exciting experience this year, as 24 of our outstanding Year 5 and 6 students represented us at the Nord Anglia Education Southeast Asia Games 2025, hosted by Northbridge International School in Cambodia.

Leading up to this event, our students trained hard, preparing to compete in tee-ball, football, basketball, and athletics. The NAE SEA Games brought together students across Southeast Asia for a week full of exciting competitions and the chance to make new friendships.

For many of our students, this was their first experience representing Dover Court on an international stage, and what an experience it was! Our boys’ football team secured first place, while our girls placed a fantastic second! Overall, we finished as runners-up, showcasing not just our skill in sports, but also our dedication and sportsmanship throughout every match and race.

Beyond the medals, our students displayed exceptional resilience and teamwork throughout the event and witnessing their spirit was truly inspiring. The games also facilitated meaningful interactions with peers from Cambodia and Vietnam, creating unforgettable memories during post-competition activities that strengthened their bonds. Ellie Woodcock, our Head of Primary PE, expressed her pride: “I am filled with great pride in how these young athletes represented Dover Court. They exemplified our values, inspiring us all with their enthusiasm and support for one another.” She further highlighted the growth these students achieved: “What stood out was their independence and maturity. They learned valuable life skills like confidence and collaboration, which will serve them well beyond the games.”

Dev, a Year 6 student, shared a meaningful takeaway: “I learned that not everything is solo; sometimes you have to work as a team.” Maki, a Year 5 student, agreed, explaining how collaboration helps lessen the pressure: “If we win, we win together. If we lose, we lose together.”

Mr Antonio Priore, a parent at Dover Court, noted the broader benefits of events like the SEA Games: “They help students to be future-ready, fostering understanding across different cultures and backgrounds. It's a perfect balance of academics, sports, and relationships.”

For our students, the NAE SEA Games journey was about building self-belief, making intercultural friendships, and appreciating the value of teamwork. It reinforced our belief that growth occurs both in and out of the classroom. We extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated teachers and supportive parents for making this experience possible! We can’t wait for the next NAE SEA Games and look forward to more adventures together!
