We are all learners at Dover Court and through our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme our teachers refine their skills to enhance student learning.
It has been an exciting and productive term of professional learning, with 16 weeks of internal collaborative learning opportunities. Our teachers have benefitted from a vast range of enrichment sessions run by both teaching colleagues and external specialists.
The breadth of professional knowledge and experience amongst our staff is impressive and something that we are incredibly proud of. The Dover Court teaching staff tapped into this wealth of expertise during our Teach Meet Sessions this term. Designed to allow teachers with knowledge in specific areas to share insights with other teachers, this programme gave staff an outlet to dive into topics such as Supporting Multilingual Learners, Augmented Reality and Making Maths Visual.
The Collaborative Book Inquiry Club is another professional development initiatives, where academic staff have shared books and reflections to support a collaborative professional dialogue and explore new themes and approaches to student learning.
In November, we were delighted to welcome Matthew Savage to lead our CPD sessions. Formerly Principal of an award-winning international school in the Middle East, Matthew is now an internationally renowned educational consultant and trainer, speaker and writer, content creator and coach, architect of #TheMonaLisaEffect®, and host of The Data Conversation podcast. His session focused on using a range of data to ensure each child is seen, heard, and known to cultivate belonging allowing us to create the best conditions for student learning.
We also welcomed Diana Osagie from Courageous Leadership , author, coach and former Head Teacher. Her session helped teachers go deeper into how we bring intention into our decision making. She challenged us to create the conditions that allow us to bring out the best in each other and our students.
The Senior Drama Curriculum Specialist from The Juilliard School, Stephanie Cunningham, spent time with our teachers, and our students, helping us to further develop our Juilliard Creative Classroom. These valuable sessions allow our teachers to leverage Juilliard’s world class curriculum and teaching approaches to enhance not only our performing arts, but also how we support public speaking, presenting, and general confidence building in our students.
In addition to this, we have had large numbers of staff accessing professional learning outside of our weekly schedule, such as Swimming and Life-Saving, Early Years Mathematics, the Reggio Emilia approach to learning, sessions with SENIA, EDU Tech Asia, 21st Century Learning, FOBISIA JAWS and collaborations with other Nord Anglia teachers through the Nord Anglia University platform.
Learning never stops at Dover Court and we are proud to model this life-long commitment to personal and professional development to our students, while improving the quality of learning our students’ experience.
