Year 9 Students Embark on an Unforgettable Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Journey

Year 9 Students Embark on an Unforgettable Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Journey - Year 9 Students Embark on an Unforgettable Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Journey

Recently, 40 of our Year 9 students took on the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey, which turned out to be an unforgettable experience. The two-day expedition was a true test of resilience and teamwork, as the challenging conditions highlighting the essence of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

As they explored the various landscapes of Pulau Ubin, set up camp, and prepared their meals, it was inspiring to witness the growing support among them. Their efforts were rewarded with some truly memorable wildlife encounters. From troops of monkeys and a variety of birds and lizards to the rare treat of spotting a family of otters, the students were deeply engaged in the rich biodiversity of the island. Two groups even reported seeing separate encounters with a wild boar or a creature that closely resembled one!

On behalf of the school, I want to express how incredibly proud we are of our students. Their grit, grace, and good humour shone through, especially when the journey became physically demanding. They showed true character, pushing through with determination and lifting each other up every step of the way. It was a pleasure and a privilege to witness.

This expedition was more than a challenge, it was a chance to grow, to bond, and to create memories that will stay with them long after their time at Dover Court. A huge congratulations and well done to our Year 9 DofE students, you’ve made Dover proud.
