The GCSE/IB Music Showcase 2026 brought our school community together for an evening full of creativity, expression, and impressive musical achievement. Families, staff, and students gathered to celebrate the remarkable work of our young performers, making it an evening that truly highlighted the vibrancy and high standards of music-making across the school.

“An Outstanding Evening of Music”
– A message from our Deputy Head of Secondary
“An outstanding evening of music showcasing the incredible talents of our GCSE and IB Music students. The repertoire was wide and inspiring, reflecting the musical and cultural backgrounds and tastes of our students. From guitar to piano, saxophone to harp, flute to accordion, guzheng to drums, I don’t think we have ever seen such a wide range of different musical instruments performed on one stage! A huge thank you to the dedicated music team for curating such a wonderful musical journey for us all to experience." – Carla Hyland, Deputy Head of Secondary, Dover Court International School
A Showcase Highlighting Growth and Musical Excellence
With more students choosing GCSE and IB Music, this year’s showcase reflected both the growth of the music programme and the increasing level of performance. Bands, ensembles and soloists presented a broad mix of genres, from classical to contemporary, with a musical range that demonstrated both technical skill and thoughtful interpretation.
The diversity of instruments and styles on stage spoke to the ambition and curiosity that drive our musicians to explore beyond the familiar.

Performances Filled with Confidence and Character
Throughout the evening, students performed with real confidence and artistic identity. They approached each piece with clarity, purpose and musical maturity, offering performances that were as engaging as they were accomplished.
Among the standout moments were a beautifully articulated flute concerto movement, inventive new arrangements of Irish jigs, polished interpretations of contemporary favourites, and a captivating guzheng solo that drew the audience into complete stillness. Each performance demonstrated both individual artistry and a strong command of technique.

A Celebration of Dedication, Creativity and Community
The showcase demonstrated how much our students have progressed in mastering their instruments, refining their musicianship, and developing as performers. Their dedication, discipline, and creativity were evident in every piece, making the evening a powerful celebration of their achievements. It also reflected the consistent guidance of our Music Department, whose support and encouragement help students grow in confidence year after year.
Congratulations to every performer, and heartfelt thanks to our Music team, whose expertise continues to raise the standard of music across GCSE and IB programmes and brings out the best in every student.
