A Positive Start to the 2026-27 Academic Year | A Message from Head of Primary David Buckley

It has been a real pleasure to see our students return to school this week, bringing with them their enthusiasm, curiosity and energy. Whether you are joining Dover Court International School for the first time or returning for another year, we are delighted to welcome you to our Primary community.
One of the greatest joys of the first week of term is walking through the school, visiting classrooms and playgrounds, and speaking with the children and adults who make up our wonderful community. These moments always remind me what a special place Dover Court is. Seeing children reconnect with friends, meet new classmates and embrace new opportunities fills me with a tremendous sense of pride and optimism for the year ahead.
Families returning to campus will also notice a number of exciting improvements to our learning environment. We are particularly pleased to unveil the major upgrade to the playground facilities in NEST, creating even greater opportunities for our youngest learners to play, explore and discover.
Increased shading across a number of our outdoor areas will also help students enjoy these spaces comfortably throughout the year, supporting wellbeing, active play and social connection.
The start of a new school year is filled with optimism and possibility. It is a time to build new friendships, strengthen existing relationships and create the foundations for a successful year of learning. At the same time, we recognise that the beginning of a new year can bring a degree of uncertainty for some children and families. New classrooms, new routines and new friendships can feel both exciting and daunting. At Dover Court, we know that relationships are at the heart of helping children navigate these transitions successfully. When children feel connected, supported and valued, they develop the confidence to embrace challenges, take risks in their learning and make the most of every opportunity. This commitment to belonging sits at the heart of our mission and values and continues to guide everything we do. With this in mind, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher as we work together to build a strong partnership in your child's learning throughout the year ahead.
We remain committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences that inspire curiosity, nurture confidence and help every child thrive. We look forward to welcoming you onto campus in the weeks ahead and sharing the many opportunities, experiences and achievements that lie ahead. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. I look forward to celebrating another successful year together.
