Our chaplain, Father Charles, took a very international group of 15 students from Mexico, Ireland, Russia and France to Rome for a spiritual and cultural journey from November 30th to December 4th.
The winter sun made the magnificence of the eternal city evident. The students discovered the different aspects of the “Urbs”, including antique remains, major Christian basilicas, squares and Baroque fountains, catacombs, the Vatican City and its museums, and even the Swiss Guard.
In addition to visiting the tourist attractions of the city, during the Masses and shared moments of prayer everyone was able to add a more personal and inner dimension to the journey. It was a much appreciated break from everyday life, topped off by Pope François’ message on the Sunday Angelus at Saint Peter’s Square: “In the anticipation of Christmas, open the paths to the Lord and free yourself of everything that troubles your heart”.
