On Friday the 19th of April Grade 3-5 students had a field trip. As part of this field trip 25 chinese speaking students were selected to visit Tianfu Number 1 School as part of our work to develop a long-term collaborative partnership between our schools. Our students were very warmly welcomed by a number of their students and teachers, who we were buddied up with, and guided through their campus to the kitchen. Upon arrival to the kitchen we were informed of the history of dumplings and then with our buddies we learnt how to make dumplings together. While our lunch cooked, we explored the school further. We saw their classroom, and their beautiful cherry tree garden. We finished off our visit by sharing lunch together. The dumplings we made were so delicious! We look forward to being able to host students from Tianfu Number 1 School in the future, and reciprocate their hospitality.

The second part of our field trip was a visit to Hope Jockey Club, which is just across the river to the east of Leman. Our students were enthusiastically welcomed by Jimmy and his team and proceeded to rotate around a number of activities within the club. The students were able to feed the horses and learnt about how the horses were kept in their stable. They also helped clean down the horses, comb their coat and learn how the horse is cared for and maintained. The most exciting part of the trip for our students was to be able to ride the horses around the arena with the guidance of an expert rider. All students were also given a soft toy of a horse as a parting gift from Hope Jockey Club. We really appreciated the generosity of Jimmy and his team as well as their fantastic organisation and manner with our students.
