Grade 9 Mathematics
The grade 9 students have just completed their unit of study, Sets, Logic and Number. As part of an investigation into logical reasoning, they followed the design process to create a strategy game. They then played each other’s games and used their reasoning skills to reflect on a winning strategy. Next week, the grade 9 students will begin learning about quadratic functions and their real-world applications.
Grade 10 Mathematics
Grade 10 students have just completed their unit of study, Relationships and Mathematical Modelling, in which they used mathematics such as indices, logarithms and systems of linear inequalities to model authentic problems. As part of this unit of study, students created and presented a real-world business problem in which they investigated how to maximize profit or revenue. Next week, the grade 10 students will begin learning about sequences and series.
The grade 11 Mathematics Analysis and Approaches students have been building on their prior learning about functions by investigating how to apply transformations to their graphs. Next week, grade 11 students will use their newfound knowledge to transform a picture. Once they have completed the Functions unit of study, the grade 11 students will begin Statistics.
Grade 12 students have worked very hard this school year and have recently completed their Mathematics Internal Assessments. Over the next two months, they will complete their study of the core topics in Mathematic HL and SL and prepare for their mock exams.
