With each passing year, the chess players of Leman continue to improve their competitive chess skills. With the coaching support of Mr. Ben and Mr. Felipe, the growing interest in this game of kings has continued to attract dozens of students each club session. This week, thirty-plus students, faced off in hopes of making the Red Panda chess team until only eight were left. Leo Gam, Krish Manan, William Drew and Amy Fei for U11; and Xing Li, Ayan Urazaliev, Jayden Joo, and Devlin Wong for U19. These students will represent LIS on December 10 at the CISA chess tournament, where they will enjoy mentally battling some of the best players in their age group. We would ask you to wish us luck. But this barely exists in a game that lacks excuses. Instead, we look forward to enjoying another great tournament, hosted in a beautiful 200 year old hall at Confucius International School and continue to see our players mature in sportsmanship.
