The IB Verification Team Visited Léman International School on November 18 and 19
After several years of being an MYP candidate school, the IB verification team arrived on November 18th and 19th to evaluate the school processes to decide whether Léman can be an MYP authorized school. The school will receive the official report in early 2020. If approved, the school’s first official MYP school year will be the 2020-21 academic year, and the current G9 students will be the first cohort to be MYP certificate eligible.
Teachers created a large amount of documentation for the visit over the course of two years, and they all received professional development training in the IB. Additionally, students were upskilled in IB terminology such as Learner Profile traits and Approaches to Learning skills, as well as being required to do Projects and Service requirements by the IB.
If approved, as expected, the MYP program has been proven to best prepare students for the DP program and university training. The MYP is one of the most strenuous curriculums worldwide due to the requirements such as the Projects and Service. Teachers and students will also be able to pull from the large resources available worldwide from IB schools, and the MYP is recognized worldwide as one of the most academically rigorous programs. Thank you to all those involved that helped make the visit happen!
