Learning Support Assistant

Supporting the Pupil

  • To develop excellent professional relationships with students
  • To develop an understanding of specific needs of students supported
  • To help students work effectively as an individual and within groups both inside and outside of the classroom
  • To support students with revision materials and techniques as directed by the LS teacher or Class Teacher
  • To support as a reader, scribe or invigilator in exams for special arrangements

Supporting Teaching Staff

  • To assist teachers to develop a suitable programme of support and then carry out the programme either within the classroom or as a withdrawal intervention
  • To help adapt and find resources to enable students to access the curriculum
  • Meet regularly/liaise with HoLS, LS teacher and Teaching staff to plan and prepare
  • Attend departmental meeting when required
  • Record, monitor and assess children’s progress
  • Manage LS files and administration tasks
  • To highlight any concerns or achievements of students to the relevant department/staff

Supporting the School

  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Enhance the home/school relationship always mindful of professionalism
  • Perform regular duties
  • Attend whole school CPD and meetings where appropriate
  • To be aware of and support the School and Department Action Plans, targets and policies.

Qualifications   and Training


A good standard of general education

Including GCSE English & Maths at Grade C or above (or Thai/Foreign equivalent).

Further or Higher Education

TEFL Qualification


Relevant work experience.

Relevant work experience in a similar environment.
