"I am also a firm believer in striving for excellence in everything we do, and I am aware of the potential that our plans for the Performing Arts at Regents have to unlock and celebrate not only the amazing enthusiasm of our teachers, but above all the talents of our wonderful students of all ages, whose artistic energies we want to harness and combine, to entertain and motivate them to reach their goals.
At the heart of Nord Anglia Education’s ethos is the sentiment ‘Be Ambitious’ – this means we are not only ambitious for our students, we also want to pass on that ambition, and empower students to take ownership of their own learning experience. For us at Regents, this means creating a learning experience that leads to academic success for every student, and also nurturing the key skills that will enable them to succeed anywhere in the world. It means changing the status quo, challenging ourselves and challenging our students to dream bigger, do better, and aim for a brighter future.
As any educator knows, this kind of drive can’t necessarily be measured by league tables or examination results, although these too have their value. Enter the performing arts, the practice of which both enhances and reveals the educational process for learners and their families alike. Put simply, an education in performing arts pushes students to achieve excellence through inspiration – an approach set out in the position paper prepared by our educational team at Nord Anglia Education, which has inspired this publication.
In this Special Report, our Staff and Students share their reflections on the variety of Musical activities and developments across our campus. You will notice a specific emphasis in this report on bringing out student voices. Ultimately, we as a school will be measured by our students – by the ways in which we succeed in igniting their curiosity, inspiring their creativity and continually challenging them to broadening their horizons. I hope you will find this an inspiring read."
